 Matt is a graduate of Moravian College, where he obtained a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance. Right after graduated from Moravian, Matt came down to the Philly area for graduate school, where he received a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of the Arts. While in grad school, Matt started teaching private music lessons on saxophone and piano, and also helped out with high school jazz groups in the area. After finishing his master’s degree, Matt started teaching music in the classroom setting, which led him to his PA Teaching Certificate in Music Education, which he worked on at Immaculata University. As an educator, Matt has 10 years of private lesson experience, as well as eight years of classroom music experience. He has played in a variety of styles as a performing musician, ranging from jazz to pop to funk to rock to bluegrass, in a multitude of group settings.

 As a music educator, Matt first and foremost believes in spreading the joy of music to students of all ages and abilities, whether you aspire to play professionally or simply for your own pleasure. His lessons are rooted in the fundamentals of both music theory as well as the individual instrument students are learning, while at the same time focusing on each student’s individual stylistic goals and aspirations.
