Guitar, Bass, Violin, Viola, Piano
B.A. University of Pittsburgh
Nathan is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he acquired a B.A. in German Language and Literature as well as history. While attending college, he mentored children as a Jumpstart core member for AmeriCorps and later built upon his teaching experience by taking a job as an ESL instructor in Japan after graduating. Classically trained on violin, Nathan has over two decades of experience playing music - he performed in Honors Orchestra as a violinist, was a member of the Hanover Symphony Orchestra for several years, and also performed as a member of the Trump Family Bluegrass band. His primary instruments are guitar, bass, and violin, but he also enjoys playing the viola, mandolin, piano, and lap steel on occasion.
Nathan believes the primary importance of teaching music is the transmission of a lifelong skill – practicing music will not only increase one’s musical ability, it will increase one’s sense of fulfillment and love of life. He approaches his lessons with patience and consideration for his students’ unique musical interests, providing solid technical instruction while nurturing musicality.
